This hands-on workshop moves the focus from design to development of blended and online courses. It comprises a series of activities to be carried out individually or in small groups that will enable participants to make technology decisions regarding the implementation of their learning design using appropriate Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). The workshop will guide participants in selecting appropriate tools to match pedagogical purpose, followed by the development of a balanced variety of teaching and learning activities in a blended or online project.
The workshop will offer participants the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in the selection and use of FOSS to support their teaching and learning context. Participants will have the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with others in the group. Starting with a common virtual learning environment (Moodle) as a core application within which to develop a user-friendly course environment, the group will explore the embedding of some useful basic rich media enhancements.
